GULF FOOD OVER THE YEARS :
Originally dubbed “Gulf Food”, the first edition took place in 1987 in Dubai with only 13 countries present. The event has since then grown in popularity and reach, attracting more regional and global industry players, with the 1991 edition hosting companies based in Kenya, Singapore, Denmark, Hong Kong, Poland and more. Conferences and seminars were incorporated to the roster in 1993, with a talk about food safety and legislation.
Now with a grown portfolio of over 120 countries represented across 21 halls, exhibitors have a golden opportunity to share their food and beverage products, take part in the discussion surrounding global food challenges, the latest sector innovations and trends.
The rise of online commerce and global supply chains has also staked its claim on the event since it also provides participants with a chance to network with e-commerce procurement agents for a chance at stocking their products all over the world.
Seminars and conferences have also grown in scale to tackle global food issues, and encourage participants to share ideas and debate about innovative and sustainable ways to solve them. The most impressive and promising of them would come to be rewarded at the Gulfood awards that started in 2010.
Gulfood is also sought after by food sector professionals such as award-winning chefs and culinary arts experts to showcase their creative prowess with the latest F&B products and technical equipment and innovation, as well as hands-on workshops and tasting events.
Over the years, the participation of youth and women was also valued through the “Gulfood YouthX” F&B launchpad initiative and “Gulfood Women Leaders” program.
The 27th edition of 2022 will take place in Dubai from February 13th to the 17th at the Dubai World Trade Center. Ever the driver of change and innovation, this year’s edition will unite the food community, chefs from top hotels and restaurants and many more food industry actors to launch the event’s first Zero Waste Initiative, by composting all the collected food waste from exhibitors, workshops and demonstrations throughout the event.
