As we promised before, we will not miss an important opportunity to meet our clients and business partners.
The "Fancy Food Show" is held twice a year, on the east coast in the summer, and on the west coast in the winter.
The summer edition of this year took place in New York, from 12 to 14 June and it brought together more than 2500 exhibitors from 55 countries and nearly 25,000 trade visitors.
These three packed-days are the perfect opportunity to network with F&B Specialists and Professionals, thanks to the speciality food association.
Here are all the details that you need to know about Olyfo’s participation from our interview with our Co-founders Ahmed Hamza and Yahya Chemli.
Q: Why did you choose to exhibit at The Fancy Food Show and What were your goals for the event ?
- There are certain rendez vous not to miss in the F&B world. The NY Summer Fancy Food Show is certainly among the top 2. We are working hard to introduce the US market with our OLYFO Brands: Al Atika, Ifriqia and 2500 Years of Tradition.
This is the right path towards ensuring that the American Consumer is accessing Tunisian Award Winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Q: With big shows comes big preparations. How did you manage to be fully prepared for the show and what were the biggest challenges that you faced during these preparations ?
- Preparations to the SFFS started 4 months before the D-Day. It is not just about design, booth, samples and print.
However, it is mostly about getting the word out to our potential clients and partners and inviting them to our booth.
On a separate note, one of the challenges was getting the visa on time. We had it one day before the flight so we were lucky but mostly thankful to Packtec and the US Embassy Tunisia for making that happened.
We will also not fail to mention the big efforts dedicated by the Tunisian Embassy in the USA and the Official delegation.
The Tunisian Ambassador, Ms Hanene Tajouri Bessassi, intervened personally to ensure that samples of all exhibitors are delivered on time and that made a difference .We want to also thank sir Tarak AL ADAB, the Ambassador of tunisia to the united nations, Ms Hamida belgaied, the general director of food industries for the tunisian delegation, Ms Afef debbich and sir Abdelkarim hamdaoui from Packtec for their support and hospitality.
You can have more details about the show from the radio interview that we made.
Q: Coming to the first day at the Javits convention center in New York City, what were your first impressions of the show ?
- The moment you enter the convention center, you feel a positive vibe.
The people of New York are always smiling and always ready to give a helping hand. The show was very well organized and we had a lot of interest from F&B Specialists.
Q: How can you describe the Tunisian participation in this show ? And how does it feel to be part of it ?
- As per my conversation with so many chefs and F&B specialists, they all confirm that “they know where the good olive oil comes from”. Tunisian Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a positive reputation around the world and mainly by Olive Oil professionals.
In fact more than 85% of the National production goes in bulk to the main EU exporters.
We are proud of where we come from and who we are and we will continue working hard to promote our Tunisian Award Winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The Tunisian Pavilion was prestigious and we believe we did a good job reflecting Tunisian know-how, hospitality and expertise.
Q: This show is a great opportunity to meet food specialists, organizers and many more… Who did you meet and how was their response to Olyfo as a Tunisian olive oil Brand ?
- We had the opportunity to meet distributors, chefs, brokers, retail experts and the media.
OLYFO has a great story to tell and people loved our Award Winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Q: During this three day event, what was the most memorable moment of the show ?
- it is certainly the 2nd day of the show. We met a lot of chefs and Olive Oil Sommeliers. They shared great feedback about our Olive Oil and that made our day !
We are farmers and we work hard to ensure our clients have the best quality so we control the whole process from the tree to the bottle. Therefore, when we see the smile on our clients faces, that is a great appreciation to our work and our partners women and men farmers.
Q: How did you get visitors to come to your booth and what were their impressions of Olyfo ?
- As mentioned previously, preparing a show starts at least 3 months before and that is what we do. We are here to stay and we are trying to do all the right things both on the production, sales and marketing.
Q: What’s the best advice you can give to a next year exhibitor ?
- Get the best of what you have. Start early and be there with your team to showcase your products and company.
Q: What are the plans for next year’s edition ?
- Next year will certainly be different as we plan to participate in the show with our selected distributors. We will also showcase some of the rare gems of Tunisian Olive Oil.
We know how to get that.

- We will continue supporting our clients. We will continue the follow up with our new leads.
