To celebrate the arrival of this enchanting season, we invite you to join us in the kitchen for a delightful culinary adventure—a homemade Cinnamon Apple Galette.
Recipe: Cinnamon Apple Galette
Ingredients:
For the Galette Dough:
1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/2 cup Olyfo Olive Oil
3-4 tablespoons ice water
For the Apple Filling:
3-4 medium-sized apples (a mix of sweet and tart varieties), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
A pinch of salt
1 tablespoon Olyfo olive oil (for brushing)
For the Finishing Touch:
1 tablespoon apricot preserves (for glazing)
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Galette Dough:
In a food processor, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Pulse to mix.
Add the Olive oil and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough just comes together.
Form the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll Out the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a rustic circle about 12 inches in diameter. It doesn't have to be perfectly round—rustic is the charm here.
Prepare the Apple Filling:
In a bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Toss until the apples are well-coated.
Assemble the Galette:
Arrange the apple slices in the center of the rolled-out dough, leaving a border around the edges.
Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pleating it as you go.
Brush with Olive Oil:
Brush the exposed edges of the galette dough with Olyfo olive oil. This will give it a lovely golden color and a hint of fruity flavor.
Bake to Perfection:
Place the galette on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.
Add the Finishing Touch:
While the galette is still warm, gently heat the apricot preserves in the microwave for about 20 seconds until they become liquid. Brush the warm preserves over the apples for a shiny glaze.
Serve and Enjoy:
Allow the galette to cool slightly, then slice and serve. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
As we welcome the approaching autumn, the aroma of this Cinnamon Apple Galette will fill your home with a sense of warmth and anticipation. The crust enveloping the spiced apples is a testament to the cozy charm of the season. So, gather your loved ones, savor a slice of this delightful galette, and embrace the beauty of autumn, one bite at a time.
